Bedroom

In the past, peaple had slept together in the same room where they lived. In the center of Europe, the bedroom was a new invention, which at the beginning only was reserved for the noble and the rich citizens. The beds also were luxury,which only few peaple could effort and they came in fashion in the middle age only. The simple peaple slept mostly together with the family on beds of straw. Many farmers even slept with the cattle and they used the animal as source of wormth. The first bedrooms were small rooms built around the oven.

Because of the much population, there was not enough place in the house for a bedroom. Only in the 60^th, the bedroom appeared in most houses of the classes of the society.

The bedroom is a rest place. Much peaple see it as a very intimate place. In most of bedrooms, beside the bed, there are other furniture like; a wardrobe, beside table and a chest of drawers with a miror.

Nowadays, the appartments are bigger und most of peaple have an extra bedroom as guestroom. In small appartments the folding sofas mostly are used as a guest bed.

Most bedrooms are furnished with carpets because it is likable to walk on. The design of the bedroom reflects the taste of the occupant.
