Carpet-Info

A carpet is a floor covering. Its production dates back to the same period as the first production of clothing. Until the 18th century, it was used for wall covering in Europe. The expression "carpet" derives from Armenian “karpet”, "kar” meaning a “knot" or "stitch” Oftentimes, the expression “carpet” is used interchangeably with the expression “rug”. The hand-knotted carpets probably originated in the southern Central Asia between the 3rd  and 2nd  millennium BC. The earliest surviving carpet in the world is called the "Pazyryk Carpet", dating from the 500 years BC. It was found in 1949 from a Siberian burial ground where it had been preserved in ice in the valley of Pazyryk.
